With the R. Kelly and Rezko trials wrapped up, two of our go-to stories are behind us. That means we have to look at new places to find news. • Adriene Hill is at the Mississippi River assessing the flooding. She’ll be filing stories from out there for the next couple of days. We’ll have plenty of exclusive web extras - so keep an eye on the City Room page. Today, Adriene is near Gulf Port, IL where some levees have given way, so we’ll keep a close eye on the damage.
  • We’re making calls to the Governor’s office and Illinois National Guard to see if there are enough guardsmen stateside to manage the flooding. As you may recall, there have been some gripes over the last few years that too many Guard resources have been sent overseas.
  • Barack Obama has added Patti Solis Doyle to his campaign team. She’s the wife sister of Chicago Alderman Danny Solis, and former presidential campaign manager for a certain Hillary Rodhman Clinton. Our political guru Ben Calhoun is canvassing Chicago Democrats to get their thoughts on the hire.
  • And we’re also heading to Mayor Daley’s press conference this afternoon. We plan on peppering him with questions.
We’ll have these stories and more starting at 2 p.m. Stay tuned, check the web, and oh yeah, don’t forget to win your bike!
