Who Speaks for Islam? What a Billion Muslims Really Think
Between 2001 and 2007 Gallup embarked on an ambitious project to poll the world's 1.3 billion Muslims. From Malaysia to Mauritania, the Gallup World Poll conducted tens of thousands of interviews with Muslims on issues ranging from democracy to women's rights.
The answers they got back were at times unexpected. At the end of this massive undertaking Gallup published its findings in the book, Who Speaks for Islam? What A Billion Muslims Really Think.
Dalia Mogahed is the book's Co-author and Executive Director of the Gallup Center for Muslim Studies. She and Jerome talk about the project and some of the poll's most surprising findings.
