This public workshop will introduce issues of sexual exploitation and trafficking in the Chicagoland area, and will include personal testimony from an area survivor. Attendees will receive a copy of Engaging Writers in Ending Sexual Exploitation and Harm: A Toolkit and Resource Guide and will participate in brainstorming discussions about how to effectively promote awareness and inspire activism in their communities. This event is hosted by the Neighborhood Writing Alliance, the Chicago Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation, and The Voices and Faces Project, with support from Chicago Publishes.

The Neighborhood Writing Alliance provokes dialogue, builds community, and promotes change by creating opportunities for adults in Chicago’s underserved neighborhoods to write, publish, and perform works about their lives.

The Chicago Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation addresses the culture, institutions, and individuals that perpetrate, profit from, or support sexual exploitation. Their work includes prevention, policy reform, community engagement, and legal services.

The Voices and Faces Project is an award-winning documentary initiative created to bring the names, faces, and stories of survivors of sexual violence and trafficking to the attention of the public. The Voices and Faces Project seeks to change minds, hearts, and public policies on sexual violence and exploitation.
