In the spirit of Lucile Clifton, this reading is meant to “comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.” Join five remarkable poets who occupy words, never as a polemic but always toward truth-telling, for a memorable evening of words made to occupy. Curated by poet Valerie Wallace, the poets chosen for November 11, 2012 will read from their work and talk about why they approach poetry as something to be used on and off the page. This event features poet and visual artist Krista Franklin, poet and text artist Jill Magi, poet Marty McConnell, and poet and performance artist Jamila Woods.
