Friday’s 8.9 magnitude earthquake and tsunami brought devastation to northeast Japan. The official death toll is 1,800, but tens of thousands are still missing. We’ll talk to Steven Clemons, of the New America Foundation and Director of the Japan Policy Research Institute, about the nation’s response thus far. The tremors also caused damaged to a string of Japan’s nuclear reactors. Stephen Schwartz, editor of The Nonproliferation Review, sheds light on the island nation’s nuclear energy system. And, Governor Pat Quinn is proposing to cut funds for refugee and immigrant services by 74 percent. We’ll talk with Greg Wangerin of RefugeeOne, a group helping refugees resettle in the Chicago area.
