Today on Global Activism, we feature the Organic Health Response (OHR), a multi-faceted organization that serves Kenya’s Suba community on Mfangano Island in Lake Victoria. The isolated population of 20,000 has one of the highest rates of HIV prevalence in the world.  OHR responded with an innovative program. They built a solar-powered community internet center that’s free to all residents who know their HIV status, and they provide testing and counseling on-site.  But that’s just one of several projects OHS has in the works. Founder Chas Salmen tells us about the island’s population and shares the fascinating story behind the origins of OHS.
