Jerome and Radio M host Tony Sarabia remember the inimitable Brazilian singer Elis Regina. Perhaps not as famous outside Brazil as the fruit-basket-hat-wearing Carmen Miranda, Regina remains, 29 years after her death, one of her country’s most beloved artists. And earlier this month, Dilma Rousseff, Brazil’s first female president, was sworn into office. She follows in the footsteps of her mentor Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
