ByYou wouldn’t know it from the rancorous national debate, but the flow of immigrants from Mexico to the U.S. has slowed to a halt. Also, an exhibit at the Cambodian Association of Illinois uses images, artifacts and personal stories to shed light on the genocide. Two local Cambodians tell their story of survival. Global Notes explores another consequence of the Khmer Rouge: the death of 90 percent of Cambodia’s artists. Evanston native Dan Schwarzlose introduces Jerome and Radio M host Tony Sarabia to some of the traditional Cambodian music he’s dedicated his life to preserving.
