Yesterday the UN Human Rights Council voted in favor of a U.S.-backed resolution that urges Sri Lanka to investigate allegations of atrocities during its 25-year civil war. Worldview talks with Human Rights Watch’s legal and policy director James Ross, who’s worked on human rights in Sri Lanka for two decades, about the vote’s significance. Also, the Italian prime minister has announced plans to introduce legislation that would make it much easier for companies to fire their employees. As it stands, employees can only be fired if the company fails. Political economist  Alberto Alesina tells Worldview how the legislation could impact the Italian economy.
