Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has cracked down on protesters in recent weeks. In mid-March security forces fired at Shiite demonstrators and dismantled the symbol of the movement, Pearl Square. Toby Jones, a professor of Middle East history at Rutgers University, tells us about the worsening conditions for protesters in Bahrain. Also, teacher protests in Honduras, triggered by six months of unpaid wages, have now entered their fourth week. Demonstrators oppose a new education bill that would restructure the country’s public education system and demand the return of former president Manuel Zelaya, ousted in a June 2009 coup. Latin America observers Vicki Cervantes and Gary Cozette provide an update on what’s happening in Honduras.
