After nearly two months of protests in Syria, those connected to President Bashar al-Assad’s regime say the government remains strong.  Its crackdown on demonstrators continues to be marred by violence and mass arrests, and the military has occupied several cities. A Syrian-American activist who lives in Chicago joins us to discuss the latest developments. Also, new media has played a crucial role in the Arab Spring uprisings. Two young Egyptian filmmakers join us to reflect on what more freedom in the arts and new media might mean for the country’s future.
