State attorneys general are jumping into the widening scandal over banks manipulating benchmark international lending rates. These AGs want to know the parameters of their jurisdiction over the banks, and want to determine what impact the conduct involving the LIBOR rates may have had in their states. LIBOR is used to determine lending rates for trillions of dollars of credit, from loans between financial institutions to credit cards and adjustable-rate mortgages. Economic analyst Doug Henwood gives us his take on the scandal.
