The Chicago Cubs might be in first place in the National League Central division, but there is more important news at Wrigley Field. On Friday, the team debuted a limited-edition dish, the Chicago-Style Hot Dog Deep Dish Pizza. That’s thanks to Giordano’s and Vienna Beef.

It’s a hefty personal deep dish with chunks of hot dogs folded inside cheese, then topped with mustard, onions, sport peppers and pickles.

“I’m going to wait till I’ve had, I don’t know, three or four beers, a couple of hours to decide if I’m going to try it or not,” said Cubs fan Shauna Santare.

Santare and her friends heard about the new dish before coming to the game, but they weren’t willing to take a taste test.

“It’s not healthy, which is good,” Chris Roll said.

Roll says they think this pizza is skirting the no ketchup rule that applies to a true Chicago hot dog.

“Since I’m a mustard only guy I can taste the difference,” Roll said. “(But) I think pizza is the best food group so it’s just another variation. So it’s good.”

Dennis Dolan says he might have some ideas to keep it a true Chicago dog.

“Instead of marinara sauce, maybe a honey based sauce,” Dolan said.

But his father, Jim Dolan thinks that’s way off. The pizza dog can stay as is.

“The concept is OK. You’ll do alright,” he said.

The Chicago-Style Hot Dog Deep Dish Pizza will be at Wrigley until July 20.
