Before getting too far into 2011, “Eight Forty-Eight” wanted to wrap up highs and lows of 2010 for its Year in Review. Over the last year Chicagoans saw local politicians rise and fall and step to the side.

Illinois residents also saw major victories in some camps – a Stanley Cup for the Chicago Blackhawks and civil unions for same-sex couples.

Environmentalists tried to close the door on the migration of Asian carp into the Great Lakes while backers of overhauls and expansions at McCormick Place and O’Hare Airport tried to keep others open.

The constants in 2010 were high unemployment, a steady flood of foreclosures and a depressed housing market.

The year gave a lot and it took a lot away. So how will 2010 look in the rearview? What stories were most significant, most bizarre and most troubling?

To find out, “Eight Forty-Eight” invited a panel of experts tio the studio. You’ve heard from  them all before: ESPN.com’s Lester Munson, Kyra Kyles is a columnist with the Chicago Tribune’s RedEye where she writes “The Kyles Files,” Mick Dumke from the Chicago News Cooperative.
