Listen in to Young Chicago Authors’ first ever Chicago College Poetry Slam, part of the Louder Than A Bomb teen poetry festival. YCA created this slam in order to continue giving its vast cache of youth poets who’ve outgrown high school competitions the opportunity to perform on the stage.

The top five poets of this competition and two alternates will travel to Florida to compete at the National Poetry Slam for adults. The winner of the Chicago College Poetry Slam, Jamila Woods, also won a development deal with the talent firm Layman Lyric.

Recorded Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Columbia College Conaway Center.
