A West Side Chicago Hospital’s Pediatric Trauma Unit Is Shutting Down
Mt. Sinai hospital in Chicago’s Lawndale neighborhood plans to shut down it's pediatric trauma unit by the end of the summer. A hospital spokesperson said the unit got relatively few patients, and Stroger hospital’s pediatric trauma unit is just a few minutes away. Still, local pastor Phil Jackson calls the move “heartbreaking.” He works with at risk kids at Lawndale Christian Community Church--and he says he has known kids whose lives were saved by Mt. Sinai’s pediatric trauma unit.
