After a fatal Legionnaires’ disease outbreak this fall, federal public health officials tested the water at the downstate Quincy veterans’ home for the bacteria linked to the sometimes-fatal form of pneumonia. State officials greeted preliminary results from December testing by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as positive, but there’s still evidence the bacteria is in the veterans’ home’s water supply.
