Chicago DACA Recipient Calls Trump's Decision 'More Than Disappointing'
The Trump administration announced Tuesday it will end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, also called DACA. That decision puts an expiration date on legal protections granted to more than 800,000 people who entered the United States illegally as children.
"Well, it was disappointing, which is a bland way to put it," said Rafael Robles, an undocumented DACA recipient who lives in Chicago and works as an architect and real estate developer. "It was more than disappointing. It was, I think, an attack on American values."
Robles spoke with WBEZ's Melba Lara about the Trump administration's announcement by phone while between construction sites.
