Chicago’s program to create ID cards for city residents will give people three gender options to choose from: male, female and non-binary. Non-binary is a designation for people who don’t exclusively identify as men or women. City Clerk Anna Valencia says the idea came from community roundtables with LGBTQ organizations. The program, which will allow any Chicago resident of a certain age group to obtain a ID card, is slated to launch in December.
