Chicago Lawyers Argue Sanctuary Cities Crackdown Is Unconstitutional

Lawyers for for the city of Chicago argued in federal court today that an effort by the Trump administration to crackdown on sanctuary cities is unconstitutional. U.S. Attorney General Jeff Session’s, a critic of Chicago and other “sanctuary cities,” is threatening to withhold some grant money unless they change their policies. Chicago’s lawyers argued Monday morning that Sessions doesn’t have the authority to impose that provision and asked a judge to block him. The judge did not say when he will rule.
