A Democratic candidate for Illinois governor is making criticisms of his own party a hallmark of his campaign.

In a policy speech on Thursday, Chris Kennedy criticized Republicans for relying on a couple of rich people to fund their party. But in the same breath, he also criticized his fellow Democrats who support his primary opponent, billionaire JB Pritzker. Kennedy said Democrats are mimicking behavior they should abhor.

Kennedy has given his own campaign $500,000 so far and also has lost the endorsement of several Democratic Party organizations around Illinois to Pritzker.

Other Democratic candidates for Illinois governor are State Senator Daniel Biss, Bob Daiber, and Tio Hardiman.
