Progressive aldermen in Chicago are upset that a City Council Education Committee scheduled for today was canceled. The hearing was supposed to give elected officials a chance to ask staff from Chicago Public Schools why federally-mandated special education services have been delayed or reduced. The call for a hearing came after a WBEZ investigation found a sweeping overhaul of special ed that left students and their parents without help they had long counted on.
