The city of Chicago is trying to find a way to hold an Illinois bus company accountable for their allegedly racist advertisement. The ad from Suburban Express stated, “You won’t feel like you’re in China when you’re on our buses.” Chicago’s Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection says there’s no avenue of recourse within their department because the company’s operating license is issued by the state, not the city. Chicago’s Commission of Human Relations is now looking into the issue to determine whether the company has violated the city’s human rights ordinance.
