Cook County officials are calling for desegregation as a solution to Chicago’s violence problem. At a panel on gun violence as a public health crisis, the head of Cook County hospital’s trauma unit suggested desegregating Chicago’s poorest neighborhoods as a solution. Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle says she will unveil new anti-violence policies later this year.
