ComEd electricity bills are going up about five dollars in June. The majority of the increase reflects a charge that ComEd is passing along from the operator of electric grid that ties Chicago to the east coast. About 20-percent of the increase comes from a state law passed last year; it created a subsidy for two nuclear plants owned by ComEd’s parent company, Exelon.
