Environmental Activists Call For More Lake Michigan Protections

Environmental activists say more needs to be done to protect the area’s largest source of fresh water: Lake Michigan. The threats to Lake Michigan and the Great Lakes range from invasive species to pollution. And activists say that can hurt water quality. But they say perhaps the biggest threat is reduced funding for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The Trump Administration has called for a 31 percent cut to the EPA’s budget and elimination of the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative.
