Homeless Group Threatens Lawsuit Over Viaduct Plan

A group of homeless people who live in tents under Lake Shore Drive viaducts in Uptown say a city plan to redesign those areas is discriminatory and they’re getting ready to sue. Chicago’s Department of Transportation will be repairing the crumbling viaducts this fall, but homeless residents say the department has intentionally crafted a redesign to place bike lanes on the sidewalks as a measure to permanently push them out of the area. City officials did not immediately respond.
