U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is soliciting information from public and private entities who might be able to increase the agency’s detention capacity in the Chicago area by up to 1,200 beds. The request solicits information about facilities within 180 miles of ICE’s downtown Chicago office. The deadline is Thursday. The move comes as ICE steps up the arrests and deportations of undocumented immigrants nationwide.
