Immigration Shift Could Leave Midwest Behind

President Donald Trump is supporting a bill that would slash the number of immigrants who are legally authorized to come to the U.S., but some say it could be devastating to the Midwest. According to the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, the Midwest has seen a shrinking and graying native-born workforce since 2000. The organization says immigrants have been a lifeline in filling in gaps in the labor force.
