A Cook County judge on Tuesday threw out the conviction of a man who spent 22 years behind bars for a killing on Chicago’s Northwest Side. Thomas Sierra was 19 when charged in the 1995 shooting. The case relied on two witnesses who picked out Sierra in a lineup. One testified at the trial that Chicago police Detective Reynaldo Guevara told him who to choose. Tuesday’s ruling makes 10 murder convictions tied to Guevara tossed out.
