Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is defending his hand-picked schools chief after the district inspector general issued a scathing report recommending he be fired. The mayor says there are “two sides” to the story and Chicago Public Schools CEO Forrest Claypool deserves to be heard.

According to CPS inspector general Nicholas Schuler, Claypool “repeatedly lied” during an ethics investigation into whether CPS’ top lawyer should have supervised legal work on a school funding lawsuit.
