More Than 20 Nursing Homes Across Illinois Cited For Violations

More than twenty nursing home facilities across Illinois were cited for violations over the past three months. In the most recent quarterly report from the Illinois Department of Public Health, care facilities were cited for incidents that sometimes resulted in death. Some things seemed preventable…like correctly following the patient’s prescribed medical care, or securing a laundry chute so residents don’t fall in. Tom Wilson with Access Living says laws have been changed to improve care, like increasing penalties and requiring a smaller patient to caregiver ratio. But he says more could be done, like increasing funding for home and community care.
