NASA is planning a mission that flies closer to the sun than any other aircraft, and it’s named after a University of Chicago astrophysicist, Eugene Parker. The Parker Solar Probe will get seven times closer to the sun than any other mission. At a press event Wednesday at the University of Chicago, project scientist Nicola Fox said the mission will help to answer questions that could have an impact on technology used on Earth. NASA expects to launch the Parker Solar Probe next summer.
