Nearly all Democratic candidates running for attorney general are calling for one of Illinois’ most powerful politicians to step down. Cook County Assessor Joe Berrios is also the head of the county’s Democratic Party. He’s recently been hammered over his hiring and property assessment practices. Today, all eight candidates were asked by the Chicago Tribune editorial board whether he should resign. The only one who did not call for Berrios’ political scalp was the candidate he endorsed: state Senator Kwame Raoul.
