A new investment fund called Benefit Chicago is putting its money into enterprises that serve the public good. The fund announced its first half-dozen loans this week, including money for an indoor farm on the West Side and a company that employs adults with autism. Benefit Chicago has raised 77 million dollars so far, mostly from local foundations.
