New Study Finds Carcinogenic Chemical In Suburban Tap Water
A new national study by the Environmental Working Group found a cancer causing chemical known as 1, 4-dioxane in suburbs like Skokie and Cicero. None was found in Chicago. Lead scientist David Andrews says the detected levels were below EPA safety levels but still concerning. 1, 4-dioxane is not included in the chemicals regulated by the EPA under the Safe Drinking Water Act.
