An increasing number of overdose deaths is forcing some Chicago-area coroners to spend more on autopsies to figure out exactly what’s going on.

Lake County Coroner Dr. Howard Cooper said his office has seen almost 30 overdose deaths so far this year.

Cooper while toxicology costs have increased, it’s worth identifying the drugs and sharing the information with other agencies.
