A public health expert says it’s “mind boggling” that Illinois’ public health department waited six days to publicize a 2015 outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease at a veterans’ home in Quincy. Amesh Adalja is an infectious disease expert with Johns Hopkins. He says public health officials should be notifying the public immediately when it’s clear there’s an epidemic.
