South Side Seniors Ask Mayor For Help In Getting Bus Route Reinstated

Some seniors on the South Side want the Mayor to pressure the CTA to start a pilot program that would extend the number one Bronzeville/Union Station route south to 51st and Hyde Park Avenue. Part of the route was discontinued five years ago. Alphonso Jones, 72, lives in Bronzeville. He says seniors prefer to take the bus because some are worried about their safety on trains and have trouble getting onto the platform.
