A new report commissioned by the nonprofit Metropolitan Family Services finds Latinos in Chicago lag when it comes to education and health insurance. 

The study, done by researchers at the University of Illinois at Chicago, found that Latinos were six times as likely as whites — and twice as likely as blacks — to lack even a high school diploma. They were also less likely than the general population to have health insurance. 

Members of City Council’s Latino Caucus say they plan to use the data to demand more resources to help their community attain higher education and better-paying jobs.
