Supporters of undocumented U.S. army veteran Miguel Perez Jr. say immigration and detention authorities are retaliating against him for going on a hunger strike. Perez started the strike at the beginning of February. Since then, he was moved to his own detention cell at a facility in Kenosha, Wisconsin. A spokesperson for Immigration and Customs Enforcement says this was not a retaliatory move, but to monitor his health. ICE would not confirm another claim by Perez’s supporters, that Perez will be moved to detention in Louisiana, far from his support network.
