Residents of so-called tent cities under viaducts on Chicago’s North Side are calling for housing while the structures undergo reconstruction. The City of Chicago is planning to renovate the Lake Shore Drive viaducts over Wilson and Lawrence Avenues and residents are demanding a housing alternative and that homeless people are considered in the final design. The Department of Family and Support Services says it will work with residents to provide shelter and other necessities.
