Tribune’s Parent Company May Have A Rival — Or Two — In Bid To Buy Sun-Times
The parent company of the Chicago Tribune may have competition in its bid to acquire the Chicago Sun-Times. Talks between the two companies were announced two weeks ago, along with a 15-day hiatus in those talks. The U.S. Justice Department’s anti-trust division wanted to give other parties a chance to come forward. Now, the union that represents reporters at the Sun-Times says it has talked with two possible bidders. The Sun-Times, the Justice Department, and Tronc -- the Tribune’s parent company-- all declined to comment.
