President Donald Trump’s proposed 25 percent cut in the program known as “food stamps” has some current recipients stumped. At a food pantry on the West Side, recipients told WBEZ they had a hard time imagining how they could trim their food budget by 25 percent. Some said they would rely more on food pantries. But the Greater Chicago Food Depository, a food bank, says pantries could not make up for the kind of cuts Trump is proposing.
