Walgreens To Add 300 New Jobs To Downtown Complex

Walgreens plans to double the staff at its new technology center downtown with 300 new hires. The center handles the company’s digital, mobile and e-commerce divisions. 

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel says it’s nice to have Walgreens expand in the city where it started in 1901, saying, "Welcome home. It’s great to have you back after all these years."

More than 35-hundred people work for Walgreens in Chicago where it operates 136 drugstores. It’s corporate headquarters remain in north suburban Deerfield.
