Hundreds of citizens, including many religious leaders and elected officials link arms in front of the Islamic Center of America in 2011 after a vigil sponsored by the mosque and the Interfaith Leadership Council of Metropolitan Detroit. The meeting was in response to Florida based Pastor Terry Jones who has said he intends to protest in front of Islamic Center of America Friday. The protest, according to the permit request, is against Sharia and jihad. If it happens had planned, it would have been in front of the largest mosque in North America in a city that claims one of the most densely populated Muslim enclaves in the United States.
