The National Hellenic Museum opens its doors to the public for the first time on Saturday. The museum, located on Halsted Street in Chicago’s Greektown neighborhood, showcases everything from antiquities to the contemporary Greek-American experience.

The opening comes at a time when Greece has dominated international headlines for catalyzing the European debt crisis. Attorney Endy Zemenides is the executive director of the Hellenic American Leadership Council and the legal counsel for the The National Hellenic Museum. He explains what the museum means for the Greek-American community at a time of instability for Greece.
