Talented filmmakers from Thailand, Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan, China and other countries are premiering their films during Chicago’s Asian Pop-Up Cinema series, which began Sept. 12 and runs until Nov. 14. Milos Stehlik, WBEZ film contributor and director at Facets Chicago, interviews Raya Martin, the director of the film, “Smaller and Smaller Circles.” Based on an award-winning novel by Filipino author F.H. Batacan, the film follows the lives of three people who are determined to find out who is murdering children in Manila’s slums. The U.S. premiere of “Smaller and Smaller Circles” will be held Wed, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. at AMC River East 21.
