Brazil hit by series of strikes just weeks before World Cup kick-off

The World Cup starts in less than three weeks with the first match scheduled for June 12th. The stadium where the opening ceremonies are set to take place, São Paulo's Itaquerao stadium, was supposed to be completed last December but it was only just recently completed and the venue hasn’t yet been through a test run. Apart from delays in building the necessary infrastructure to host tournament, Brazil has also been beset by protests and a series of ongoing strikes by public transport workers and police. We’ll take a look at whether the country is ready to host the World Cup with Brian Winter, chief Brazil correspondent for Reuters and co-author of the book Why Soccer Matters.
