Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has promised that his government will work for “full reconciliation” with the country’s indigenous peoples. His promise followed the release earlier this week of a report by the country’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission that found the country’s early policies towards the indigenous had amounted to genocide. Canada is also currently conducting a national investigation into about 1200 cases of indigenous women and girls who’ve gone missing over the last several decades. We’ll talk about that investigation and the Prime Minister’s pledge with Liesl Gerntholtz, Executive Director of the Women’s Rights Division at Human Rights Watch. (Photo: Flickr/Renegade98)
